Sherriann Hicks is a sharp-minded advocate with a knack for cutting through confusion, especially in the complex worlds of adoption, juvenile law and courtroom strategy. She aims to blend legal precision with a sense of justice, spotting where systems misunderstand each other. She’s not afraid to challenge experts when the facts don’t stack up.
Tucked alongside that legal firepower, Sherriann has a very caring and somewhat creative side. She treasures family moments and has a strong faith. She describes herself as the kind of person who’ll fight for kids in court and also cry tears of joy when children are adopted.
Sherriann has been called part legal eagle, part creative heart — all about protecting what matters most.
Sherriann Hicks focuses her legal career on adoption, assisted reproduction, foster parent representation and child advocacy. Since 1995, she has been working for children and their best interests. With extensive experience in litigation, child custody and family formation matters, including serving as guardian ad litem, she is dedicated to service and helping others.
Sherriann has participated in reviewing and writing amicus briefs for the Georgia Council of Adoption Attorneys and the Academy of Adoption and Assisted Reproduction Attorneys. She served for two full terms as a trustee for the Academy of Adoption and Assisted Reproduction Attorneys and served for one year as the deputy adoption director. She also serves on the board of Fostering Impact and Greater Atlanta Christian School.
Sherriann is very proud to have participated in the revision of Georgia’s Adoption Code which went into effect in 2018. She regularly presents at the adoption seminar for continuing legal education put on by the State Bar of Georgia.
Sherriann has served as president of the Gwinnett County Bar Association, and as a president of the Georgia Council of Adoption Lawyers. She is a founding member of the Georgia Council of Adoption lawyers and a member of the Family Law Section of the American Bar Association.
Sherriann’s daughter is an attorney and practices adoption and family law.
