Biography
Catelyn Slattery is a Founding Member of Foster + Bloom. Prior to this, she was the owner of Slattery Law, LLC – Modern Family Formation Law Offices. Catelyn focuses exclusively on adoption and family formation through assisted reproductive technology. She is licensed to practice in Maryland, Virginia and Washington, D.C., and has spent more than a decade helping families grow through compassionate, knowledgeable legal support.
Catelyn is an adoption fellow of the Academy of Adoption and Assisted Reproduction Attorneys, where she currently serves as the Adoption Policy Deputy Director. Catelyn has represented many birth parents and adoptive families across all three jurisdictions. She is especially experienced in working with LGBTQ+ families, handling stepparent adoptions, second-parent and confirmatory adoptions, litigating contested cases. Catelyn is also experienced in handling parentage matters, as well as drafting, reviewing and negotiating donor and gestational carrier agreements.
A graduate of New England Law in Boston, she focused her legal education on family law and children’s rights, co-founding the Education Law and Policy Association and actively participating in the Family Law and Children’s Law Societies. Her commitment to education continues through frequent speaking engagements, including Continuing Legal Education presentations and panels for families growing through adoption or assisted reproductive technology.
In addition to her professional work, Catelyn is an active member of the local Women’s Bar Association. She has provided pro bono legal services throughout her career and was honored with an award from Kids in Need of Defense for her dedication to children and immigrant families.
Outside the office, Catelyn enjoys spending time with her family and rescue dog in Maryland.
